The Wellness Philosophy
Meadowood's bucolic environment is so peaceful that just enjoying the resort's grounds could easily help relieve stress. In keeping with this earthly spirit of well-being, The Health Spa at Meadowood offers only natural products and treatments. No Botox or microdermabrasion here. Instead, you can indulge in an exfoliating body scrub of grape seeds grown in Napa Valley's own legendary vineyards or double the soothing benefits of a yoga class by contemplating the peaceful woodlands through expansive windows as you do your sun salutations.
"We try to honor the whole natural perspective the property has created," explains Spa Manager Kerry Brackett. "All of our products, treatments and services offer organic healing elements for the skin and the body. Even when you're working out on the elliptical machines you're looking out at gorgeous scenery."
Eager to soak up more of Northern California's bounty? Enjoy a Cabernet Crush—a warm Cabernet grape-seed skin-polishing treatment followed by an application of fragrant, vitamin-rich grape-seed oil. Or treat yourself to the newest offering on the spa menu: Grape Seed Rejuvenation. This bliss-inducing two-hour session begins with an invigorating Vineyard Polish (guests choose between grape-seed crush with sea salt and the grape-seed-rosemary-mint scrub for a more tingly sensation) and ends with a stress-relieving grape-seed-oil massage. Both treatment packages feature only locally grown organic grape products.
The Health Spa also offers a variety of facials and wraps, as well as massages that include the use of soothing basalt stones and aromatic herbal oils. If you prefer to seek serenity in the great outdoors, enjoy a dip in one of the resort's two pools (one for adults, one for families), or set off on a hike around the scenic 4.5-mile Meadowood Loop with or without a guide.
"Our philosophy here is that we'll help you to do whatever you want to enjoy your stay, so we can arrange almost anything. Our private dining staff can put together a picnic lunch so that you can stop at a pretty spot during your hike or enjoy lunch by the pool afterward," says Brackett. "If you'd prefer an early morning workout, we can have our staff prepare freshly squeezed juice and a basket of muffins for you to enjoy outdoors afterward. We enjoy offering the luxury of choice."
No matter what your age or fitness level, you'll find relaxation and exercise options to suit your needs. "We have spinning, yoga, aqua aerobics, Pilates, cardio sculpting, personal training, you name it," says Brackett. "The younger guests tend to want hardcore cardio, while our Yoga for Healthy Backs class is wildly popular with older guests and for anyone who has back problems because it's very gentle.
"People are learning that it's important to consistently take care of your body, and we are here to help you continue your wellness while you're at Meadowood. Whether it's by taking a class, having an organic massage in the spa or just enjoying the surroundings," says Bracket, "this is the perfect place to do that because the resort is so beautiful."
