Fitness Class Descriptions



Cardio



Step Aerobics
A high-energy cardiovascular workout combining low impact step choreography with optional higher intensity power moves.

High-Energy Step Circuit
Our alternative to your morning cup of coffee! A lively cardiovascular workout designed to get you up and moving! This is an athletic approach to stepping and sculpting that welcomes all experience levels. All levels welcome.

Cardio Circuit
Great way to burn calories. This class is set up in a station fashion. Each person jumps from station to station while incorporating weight for a great cardio workout.

Strength & Stretch



Body Sculpt
Strengthen, tone and condition the major muscle groups of your body using a variety of resistance training equipment such as free weights and resistance tubing.

High-Energy Body Sculpt
Functional Training with a kick! This class utilizes a circuit format to functionally train all the major muscles in your body. Balance, speed and agility are all incorporated. Teaching and progression style follows that of the Optimum Performance Training module of the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Core & Sculpt
Challenge yourself with traditional weight lifting exercises that incorporate balance and stamina. Emphasis is placed on engaging and utilizing the core in all exercises, plus there is an additional core segment. During the last part of class you will experience a refreshing total body stretching sequence that will leave you revived and energized.

On the Ball
While having fun with the ball you will heighten your awareness and force yourself to move mindfully. You will make a deep abdominal connection with core stabilizing muscles, promote muscular strength, functional range-of-motion, skeletal integrity, balance, coordination, and successful performance of activities of daily living.

Abs and Stretch
We will be working all of your abdominal muscles; rectus abdominis, obliques and the deep transversus abdominis. Along with the core work the back is strengthen and balance improves. Stretching the whole body after abs will increase flexibility.

Sculpt on the Ball and Stretch
While we make a connection with the core stabilizing muscles on the ball, we gain muscular strength using free weights, bands and our own body weight. Using the ball for stretching and flexibility can really increase the range of mobility in the joints.

Mind & Body



Pilates
Pilates focuses on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and strengthen the deep torso muscles, which are important to help alleviate and prevent back pain.

Hatha Raja Yoga
A traditional Hatha Yoga class that includes energizing Sun Salutations, restorative Asanas,and relaxing Pranayama techniques to rejeuvenate and revive the body.

Anusara Influenced Yoga
Anusara influenced yoga is a powerful hatha yoga that unifies the Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with the Universal Principles of Alignment. Anusara is characterized by an uplifting philosophy epitomized by a "celebration of the heart" that looks for the good in all. Individual levels of ability, limitations, and unique differences and talents are honored as an expression of the divine creative force flowing through all of life.

Yoga and Pilates On The Ball
An invigorating blend of Yoga and Pilates exercises and Asanas on the ball and on the mat designed to improve posture, flexibility, and core strength.

Seasonal Offerings & Specialty Classes

Express Pilates
A 30 minutes version of the full-length class. The class focuses on your core for stabilization and posture.

Sports Agility
This class focuses on the elements needed for successful sports play. Endurance, speed, agility and balance are all incorporated in this fun 30 minute cardio workout. Functional Training is utilized. All levels are welcome.

Quick Sculpt
Pressed for time? Work all the major muscles in your body in 30 minutes. Equipment such the ball, resistance bands, and weight are all used.

Triathlon Club
Ever wanted to do a triathlon, but didn't know where to start? We do. Come join us for workouts geared to help you learn or improve your running, swimming and biking techniques. Pre-registration is not required. Topics changes from class to class, so please contact the front desk for the topic of a specific class. All levels welcome.

Personal Training



One-on-One & Buddy Training
Spice up your workout and avoid plateaus with a personal trainer. In even just one session a trainer can teach you tips, tricks and techniques to improve your workouts. Bigger training packages are available for those needing a customized program or those that want a challenge and need to be held accountable. Nutritional counseling is also available and may be included in training. Each session is an hour in length. What to pack in twice the fun? Bring a workout buddy to workout with you. Workout partners are great for motivation and accountability.


Body Composition Analysis
Meadowood uses the BioAnalogics™ Health Management System to analyze your body's composition (lean and fat mass). The system analyzes composition using electric current. Additionally, Meadowood also uses traditional calipers for body fat testing. Both methods are used during a Body Composition Assessment.


Fitness Assessment
Assess your current fitness level and identify your training needs with a fitness assessment. Assessments can also evaluate the success of how well your current program is at achieving your objectives. The assessment includes weight and body composition measurements as well as a cardio test, flexibility test, muscular strength test and postural assessment. The results guide the trainer in creating a personalized workout that's just right for you.
