Forty-Five Years of Tradition
Founded as a private club in 1964 with an unprecedented vision of what the next four decades might hold Meadowood became the original gathering place for Napa Valley's burgeoning winegrowing community.
In 1979 H. William Harlan was searching for land on which to create a wine estate when he was introduced to Meadowood, which had been listed for sale. Home to a casual restaurant, swimming pool, tennis courts and nine-hole golf course, the property wasn't ideally suited to grapegrowing. Mr. Harlan, however, was intrigued and called his partners to share the news of the hidden gem. Within twenty-four hours the partners owned the estate and began planning its future not only as a gathering place for the local winegrowing community, but as a destination for discerning travelers from around the world. With a collection of guest rooms and suites added to the property, Meadowood was soon invited to join the exclusive ranks of Relais & Chateaux.
And what of the wine estate? Mr. Harlan did find the perfect setting on an Oakville hillside and founded Harlan Estate. The hillside is now also home to BOND. Read More about this story

In 2001 the Meadowood partners acquired the land at the entrance to Meadowood along historic Silverado Trail and founded
The Napa Valley Reserve, a private club offering its members the opportunity to experience and enjoy the way of life that surrounds the production of wine.
For the last thirty years, Meadowood has served as the preeminent wine country destination for discerning travelers to the region. With timeless architecture, diverse amenities and activities, and a professional staff that includes a tennis professional, golf professional, croquet professional, a master sommelier working as the director of wine education, a restaurant sommelier, a Two Star Michelin Chef Christopher Kostow and cultural affairs director, among others, the experience on the estate has continued to evolve with Napa Valley itself.
Today, Meadowood expresses the authenticity of country life and brings guests and members closer to the timeless traditions of the region. The property continues to serve as the common ground for the Napa Valley Vintners as well as an integral part of the cultural and social fabric of the community.
